Located on the Pacific Ocean side of the Baja Peninsula, about a three hour drive from La Paz, Bahía Magdalena — or Mag Bay — is one of the most elusive fishing spots in Baja California Sur. A 50 kilometer long bay that’s home to the immigrant gray whale during the winter season, it’s guarded by the sandy barriers of Magdalena and Margarita islands.
Our Mag Bay Experience is a one-of-a-kind trip that takes you closer to the bay than any outfitter in Baja has before. We’ve secured a cozy house on the island with all the amenities available: fully equipped bedrooms, showers and bathrooms, and a kitchen where your meals are prepared and served.
In accordance with current flight schedules, you can arrive at either La Paz or Los Cabos airport on Monday. From there, our shuttle services drive you to the bay, where you’ll fish from Tuesday through Friday. Every night, local seafood and your catch are cooked in a fun and relaxed environment, getting you ready for the next day of fishing. As with our other trips, your catch is cleaned, filleted, and vacuumed for your travel convenience.
The winter season of the Mag Bay Experience is a challenge every fisherman should endure at least once in their lifetime — the majestic offshore waters and banks in the bay provide some of the most spectacular big-game fishing on the planet, including black, blue and striped marlin, wahoo, roosterfish and tuna. The summer season lets us explore the mangrove estuaries nearby, home to world-class tackle and fly fishing species.
Mag Bay was traditionally accessible only by private yacht or costly 8-plus day long boat trips, but our exclusive live-in adventures on the island let us offer this one-of-a-kind experience at a much more affordable cost.
